Interactive Whiteboards at Koorana in 2009

In 2006, Koorana embarked on a very exciting journey! Beginning from one teacher who came to our school with extensive in the use of Interactive Whiteboards, and with an enormous amount of impetus and ongoing support from our Principal Peter Thatcher, we now have 16 IWBs at Koorana and a staff who are committed to the successful and long term implementation of this technology.

Our staff are now effective users of the IWBs across all Learning Areas. We have Webster Boards which are supported by the use of the Easiteach and Mult-e-Maths Software. Teachers also make extensive use of the internet to bring the world into our classrooms and to utilise activities and learning objects from around the world. The IWBs at Koorana are used as a whole class and small group teaching tool and serve to enhance the learning of our students.

Each week, a group of teachers with boards meet as a collaborative group (KIC – Koorana Interactive Café), which is an excellent vehicle for us to share our tried and tested activities and lessons, share experiences and learn from each other. The success of this group has been instrumental in the success of the IWBs across the school.

Our vision is that with continued fundraising, all classrooms will eventually have an IWB.
